PONTON PPA Initiative: Standardising PPA Contracts & Data for a Digital Energy Market
Since 2024, PONTON has worked with a group of market practitioners – including traders, legal experts, IT specialists, and back-office professionals – to develop a standardised framework for Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs).
This work has been shaped through multiple industry workshops and was officially presented at E-world 2026, marking the release of:
PPA Contract Standards & Data Definitions – Version 1.0
Why this initiative matters
PPA processes today are often complex, fragmented, and difficult to scale across systems and organisations.
Our objective is simple:
- Reduce complexity in PPA processing
- Enable consistent data capture and exchange
- Support seamless integration across trading, risk, and settlement systems
- Lay the foundation for true system-to-system PPA execution
What we have built together with our partners
Together with leading PPA originators, off-takers, energy law firms, and technology providers, we have developed a practical and ready-to-use standard covering:
- Business processes along the PPA lifecycle
- Term sheet structures
- Contract definitions
- Standardised data models
The result is a framework designed to increase transparency, efficiency, and interoperability across market participants.
From standard to practice
With Version 1.0 now available, the focus shifts to real-world adoption.
What you will receive
After registration, you will get free access to a comprehensive package of documents:
