REMIT Relax: Making Regulatory Reporting a Little More Relaxed

For energy market participants, there are many situations where reporting data is available, but not necessarily in the XML format required for submission. Perhaps the data sits in an Excel file, only a small number of transactions need to be reported, or an existing automated process cannot handle an exceptional product.

Developed by PONTON, REMIT Relax is a cloud-based solution that helps companies turn trade and reporting data into schema-valid ACER XML files—without requiring a dedicated technical integration.

From Excel to REMIT-valid XML

One of the central capabilities of REMIT Relax is its Excel-to-XML conversion.

Users can enter or copy their reporting data into predefined Excel templates and upload the completed file to REMIT Relax. The service processes the data, validates it against the relevant schema and generates the corresponding ACER XML.

This makes REMIT Relax particularly useful for lower reporting volumes, exceptional transactions, rarely traded products, and as a backup when the primary reporting process is unavailable.

Create reports directly with the Online Editor

Excel is not the only option. REMIT Relax also includes an Online Editor, allowing users to create reporting records directly in the browser. The editor guides users through the available fields, while existing reports can be copied and adjusted when similar transactions need to be reported. Once completed, the report can be processed and downloaded as an ACER XML.

Generate UTIs as part of the process

REMIT Relax can also support the generation of Unique Transaction Identifiers (UTIs).
Where required, the service can generate a UTI according to the ACER UTI algorithm based on the reporting data provided. The generated UTI can also be written back into the source Excel file, helping companies maintain consistent records for subsequent processes.

Ready for the next phase: REMIT II

With REMIT II, the regulatory reporting landscape is evolving further. Market participants will need to adapt their processes to new and revised reporting requirements. This makes the REMIT Relax approach particularly interesting. A lightweight solution that can transform structured business data into the required regulatory XML can complement automated reporting infrastructure and provide additional flexibility for new requirements and exceptional cases.

For Exposure Reporting, REMIT Relax might also provide an interesting approach. In particular, it could be used to transform non-reported records into the correct schema, making them available alongside reported transactions for the calculation of the relevant exposure thresholds.
