PONTON EVENT

PONTON Conference 2026 on September 10/11, 2026

Dear colleagues in the energy industry,

we are excited to announce the upcoming edition of our PONTON Conference, once again held in the Open Space format. We believe that each of our clients, partners, and stakeholders have unique insights worth sharing and look forward to discussing the latest developments and innovative ideas in the energy industry.

To kick off the conference on Thursday, 10 September 2026, three long-term industry partners will share their decades of joint experience with us and for the energy industry.

We will hold Open Space sessions in the afternoon, allowing you and your colleagues to shape the program. Last year, we saw spontaneous collaboration between grid operators, traders, and energy suppliers, leading to inspiring discussions across the normally separate domains in our industry.

In the evening of the conference day, we invite you to enjoy dinner and a social event celebrating 25 years of PONTON with a scenic view of the Elbe. On the following day, Friday, 11 September 2026, we will host focus workshops for different expert groups.

This invitation is for clients, partners, and friends. We are looking forward to seeing you on 10/11 September 2026. Should you have any questions, please contacts us at events@ponton.de.

With best regards from Hamburg,
Tilo and Michael

Venue: PONTON GmbH, Dorotheenstraße 64, 22301 Hamburg

The energy crisis of 2020/2022 led to a substantial increase in Power Purchasing Agreements (PPAs), increasingly replacing traditional instruments in forward trading. While the growth in PPA volumes has not been steady since then, PPAs are here to stay.

Volume, complexity and variability between PPAs make deal capture, settlement, risk assessment and valuation difficult and time intensive. PPAs need simplification and standardization, followed by automation along the PPA value chain. To this end, PONTON started a pro-bono project in 2024, bringing together experts from trading, back-office operations, legal, IT, and risk management. Version 1.0 of this technical PPA standard was released during E-world 2026.

We would like to use this workshop to look at emerging use cases of the PPA standard and sketch out the future of technical standardization of PPAs. Your insights and expertise are crucial to this endeavour. We look forward to your participation.

Time Topic
10:00 – 10:15 Introduction by Tilo Zimmermann
10:15 – 11:15 Geert van Wijngaarden (EWE): Taking the PPA standards from contract to maturity.

Martin Geipel (Osborne Clark): using the PPA standard term sheet in practice

11:15 – 11:30 Coffee break
11:30 – 12:30 Franziska Danz (ION): Road map for building PPA standard support into ETRM products

Tilo Zimmermann (PONTON): Using AI to build PPA tools – practical demonstration.

12:30 – 13:30 Lunch
13:30 – 14:30 Discussion: Next steps, general discussion

  • Ponton X/D, a mapping solution for transforming XML documents to and from database formats.
  • Ponton oCM, a cloud-hosted confirmation matching solution for counterparties that 2do not use electronic matching, co-located with the CMS.

We will present the latest product developments, new business functionalities, and our product roadmap. In addition, we look forward to gathering your feedback, requirements, and ideas to help shape the future of PONTON integration products.

Agenda for the PONTON Conference 2026 on September 11, 2026 (Focus Workshops 3)

Venue: PONTON GmbH, Dorotheenstraße 64, 22301 Hamburg

Is there a nut to crack in your business? In this workshop, we will equip you with the right nutcrackers — a human one and an agentic one. In teams of 2–3 humans and a group of agents, we will find a solution to your problem. And we will learn how AI-supported projects work: fast prototyping and short feedback loops, but also software quality, usability and long-term maintainability.

PONTON’s experts are on hand to help you experience the next level of software development:

  • gain hands-on experience with AI-assisted prototyping and agentic engineering tools,
  • get a clearer view of where AI accelerates delivery — and where QA stays non-negotiable,
  • and exchange experiences with your peers and the PONTON team.

If you’d like to participate, please contact PONTON in advance so we can form the right team for your problem.
